Gulf Blue 911 Interior Retrimmed

Plush, This is Plush!

Busy beavers we are. Fresh from the paint shop we trimmed out the Gulf Blue 911 with a lightweight perlon carpet set ala 911 RS.
To say this stuff is a massive pain in the butt to install is an understatement. Its OK if you are some sort of glue sniffing teenage oik, you’d love the job but for us its 3m adhesive hell.
Not to mention a complete jigsaw of parts to align, stretch, stick, smooth.

Its the kind of job you love to hate and you have to do a few before it becomes second nature. If you try this at home, be prepared to make a massive mess of it.
Luckily for all those involved its a pretty rewarding job as it turns your project car from ‘that mess thats been in off the road for years’ into ‘a rather fine place to sit’
it kinda feels really good to get new trim inside the car as for most, the end is in sight. Its definately the end of the chopping and hacking, the messy bit. From here on in its nice, clean and shiny parts to go.

As you will no doubt agree. Having a new carpet set makes all the difference. Oh and it wont break the bank!
Might as well do the hood area aswell…

Getting there.

Gulf blue 911 in the booth

Over on the other side of the workshop we have a 911 taking shape in one of our favourite configurations. Firstly its an early car. A T to begin with. To that the owner has demanded, no insisted, practically forced us to paint it Gulf Blue! Ok we lied about the last bit. Its a [...]

69 Targa, Rebuilding begins

Aaaah I love the smell of an angle grider in the morning. And this morning was like no other in the fact we had laid into the 911 Targa in earnest and set about replacing the grotty metal bits with finest replacment panels. Thankfully pretty much all parts of the 911 are still available either [...]

G50 Torque Tube conversion

Here it is, I knew I had a picture of it somewhere.. This is the ongoing G50 conversion for the Chartreuse RSR. Ive just got through removing the torque tube centre section of the 915 and will replace it with a suitable G50 section. Pretty straightforward work on a shell thats already stripped to this [...]

1969 911 Targa Restoration

It really isnt often you get the chance to restore a Targa. These cars are often overlooked in favour of saving the coupe’s but luckily in this case the owner had the foresight and passion enough to bring his 69 Targa in for restoration. I love stripping the cars back to see what time and [...]
